God Will Magnify Your Efforts

If you are working towards fulfilling your divine mission, chances are you have already felt the attacks of discouragement or sadness creep in. We have all felt it at one point or another. But we don't have to stay in that space. Understanding who God is can help us upgrade our thoughts and feelings. Knowing what God is capable of helps us take the focus off of our own simple efforts and allows us to see how He can magnify anything we do.

With that said, here are 4 ways we can rely on God's Power instead of our own efforts.

1. Give Your Best Effort

 President Russell M. Nelson has said, "the Lord loves effort, because effort brings rewards that can't come with out it." He knows that you aren't perfect and that your actions won't be perfect either. He only wants you to show up and try. The Lord has promised that he will help those who serve Him. He will add His power to your efforts. As President Thomas S. Monson promised, “When we are on the Lord’s errand, we are entitled to the Lord’s help. Remember that whom the Lord calls, the Lord qualifies."

2. Visualize His Power

When we are focused on our own capabilities, we tend to only see our weaknesses and where we are falling short. It then becomes too hard to focus on what God is asking us to accomplish. We can feel like what we have to offer isn’t good enough.
Ask God to expand your vision and visualize His power being added to your work.

Whenever I create something I imagine myself taking my work to God and allowing His light to shine through it. I imagine it in my mind just like the interaction between Christ and the brother of Jared. The brother of Jared used his skills to molten 16 stones. Knowing that he had weaknesses and couldn't accomplish it alone, he took the stones to Christ. He asked Christ to add light to them by touching them. We can do the same thing our lives. It doesn't matter how big or small the creation is! Allow God's light and power to flow through it. It could be a training, a talk, an IG post, a blog, a product, etc. Visualize the light flowing through your creation and watch it extend and lift those around you. (Ether 3)

3. Remember that God is an Abundant God

As we look to the scriptures we can see countless examples of God multiplying the efforts of ordinary people. Do you remember the story about the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes? In Matthew 14:17-21, It says;

17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18 He said, Bring them hither to me.

19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

He will take what you have to offer and multiply it. It doesn't matter how big or small what you have to offer is. When He adds His power to it, it will always be enough. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are abundant. There is no end to their power and influence. President Henry B. Eyring said, "If I only think of my own performance, my sadness deepens. But when I remember that the Lord promised that His power would go with me, I begin to look for evidence of what He has done in the lives of the people I am to serve. I pray to see with spiritual eyes the effects of His power...

You can have the utmost assurance that your power will be multiplied many times by the Lord. All He asks is that you give your best effort and your whole heart. Do it cheerfully and with the prayer of faith. The Father and His Beloved Son will send the Holy Ghost as your companion to guide you. Your efforts will be magnified in the lives of the people you serve.

4. Let the Holy Ghost Fulfill His Role

Allow the Holy Ghost to work in the lives of those your serve. We often forget that the Holy Ghost doesn't stop as soon as we are done with our service. He can use our works for years to come. He has several roles in helping your service change the lives of those around you.

In John 14:26, Christ tells us that the Holy Ghost will "Bring all things to your remembrance." Take action and trust that the Holy Ghost is working on the minds and hearts of those around you. When we least expect it, the Holy Ghost can use our works to remind those whom we have served of the goodness of God. We don't need to be focused on what others are thinking or feeling about us. The work we are engaged in is eternal. We don't always know how the Holy Ghost will use our work to influence others.

The Holy Ghost is the greatest teacher and will bring the message to the hearts of the people. “When a man speaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth [the message] unto the hearts of the children of men” (2 Nephi 33:1).

President Gordon B. Hinckley taught:

“The Holy Ghost is the Testifier of Truth, who can teach men things they cannot teach one another. … Moroni [declared], ‘And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things’ (Moroni 10:4-5)

God knows you and He is aware of your effort to build up the kingdom of God. This is His work and He will be there to help you. As you give your best, He will add His power to your creations. Take time to visualize His light and power working through you to lift, build and help those around you. He will multiply your efforts. As you move forward with faith, rely on the Holy Ghost to take your message to the world.
